Plot :

Zoe (Lopez) cannot find the man of her dreams, but wants a child anyway. So it’s time for her Back Up Plan. She undergoes artificial insemination. The same day she meets Stan (O’Loughlin) when they step into a taxi, both claiming to be first. They argue before she gets out because he’s ruining her good mood and he gets out when she says that. Thus both lose the cab. Stan follows Zoe and picks up the penny she turned over for good luck. She joins a mutual aid group of single pregnant women. Later Zoe is at the Farmer’s Market and runs into Stan and learns that he makes cheese. Stan is surprised to see her and they introduce themselves. When his classmate gives the impression that they are going out, Zoe walks away. They meet again in Zoe’s store where there is a speech about dogs, and they have to take their conversation outside. Stan convinces Zoe to go on a no-obligations date. Zoe is still uncertain whether she is pregnant or not and if she should tell Stan. The night she takes the test, Stan takes her for a romantic dinner in a garden. Things didn’t turn out as well as planned when he spills the wine and a fire occurs. At the end of the night Stan asks her to come to his farm during the weekend and Zoe finds out that she is pregnant. She goes to the farm determined to tell him that she is pregnant. Stan is confused and angry that she didn’t tell him before and Zoe leaves the next morning believing that things are over between them. Stan comes around still wanting to be with her. They go to the doctors and find out that Zoe is actually carrying twins. Overwhelmed, Stan goes to a children’s playing area to figure out what it means to be father, but is suspected to be a pervert; this is soon cleared up. He finds a friend there that he can talk to about the pregnancy throughout the movie, while Zoe goes to her group wondering what to do. Stan takes the next step to becoming a father and orders a stroller for the twins. After many misunderstandings and hilarious revelations, Zoe and Stan are walking into the Market when they run into Stan’s classmate. Due to Stan’s remark that the twins are not his, Zoe believes that he is not ready to become a father to them, and breaks off the relationship. Later, before her grandmother’s wedding, the stroller arrives and Zoe figures out that Stan was never going to leave. At the wedding her water breaks and on the way to the hospital they make a pit stop at the Market. Zoe apologizes to Stan and they begin to work things out. He pulls out the penny that she turned over when they first met and Zoe promises to trust him more. In the end Stan opens a store/restaurant next to Zoe’s pet shop and after the Grand Opening speech Stan asks Zoe to marry him. On their way home the newly engaged couple find out that they have another adventure in store for them

Brooklyn’s Finest is a 2010 American crime film starring Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke, and Wesley Snipes. It is directed by Antoine Fuqua, and written by Michael C. Martin, a one-time subway flagger from East New York. It was the first film to sell at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, for a sales price of “under 5 million dollars.” The film was released in North America on March 5, 2010.

Plot :

Brooklyn’s Finest takes place within the notoriously rough Brownsville section of the city and especially within the Van Dyke housing projects in the NYPD’s sixty-fifth precinct. Three policemen struggle with the sometimes fine line between right and wrong. Eddie (Richard Gere) is a week from retirement after twenty-two years of less-than-exemplary service to the force when he’s assigned to oversee rookies in the tough neighborhoods. His life in shambles, Eddie is barely hanging on, swilling whiskey in the morning to get out of bed. His only friend is the prostitute he frequents.

Tango (Don Cheadle) is an undercover cop working the drug beat. But he tires of the kind of attention that a black man in a black car attracts, and he’s been begging for a promotion and a desk job for years. He’s finally offered a way out and it means betraying a close friend Caz, a known criminal (Wesley Snipes) recently released from federal prison.

Sal (Ethan Hawke), desperate for money to feed and house his rapidly growing family, has started pocketing the money left on the table during drug raids. Deeply religious, he finds that he’s in the bad place of trying to reconcile his misdeeds with his needs. The mold in the walls of his home is making his wife (Lili Taylor) ill and endangering the life of his unborn twins. And the down payment on his coveted new house is past due.

Federal Agent Smith (Ellen Barkin) instructs Tango to set-up the drug deal that will assure Caz’s arrest and return to federal prison. Eddie’s first rookie assignment (Logan Marshall-Green) gets himself killed on his second day on the force when he requests to be assigned to work with another officer. Sal’s wife goes into the hospital after an asthma attack brought on my the mold in their home. Eddie’s second rookie assignment (Jesse Williams) shoots a petty drug dealer leaving the young man deaf and the NYPD facing a public relations nightmare.

When Tango goes to warn Caz to abort their upcoming drug deal, they are ambushed and Caz is shot dead under orders from Red (Michael K. Williams), a gangster Caz had humiliated earlier in a rooftop incident. Eddie turns in his badge and visits his regular hooker, Chantal (Shannon Kane) who does not want to change her life by moving with him to Connecticut. After Agent Smith remarks that Caz’s death is better than his arrest, Tango lunges at her, but is restrained by fellow agents. Tango determines to avenge Caz’s death now that he knows Red ordered the hit.

That night within the Van Dyke housing projects, Eddie, Tango, and Sal converge for very different reasons. Eddie no longer feeling suicidal rescues a missing person (Sarah Thompson) from a basement operated sex-slave dungeon. Tango gets his vengeance from Red, but then is mistaken for a gangster and is shot dead by Sal’s friend and partner Ronny Rosario (Brian F. O’Byrne). Rosario’s mission was to follow and stop Sal from stealing more drug money from an informant living within the Van Dyke housing projects. Only after shooting and killing Tango does Rosario realize he’s shot another law officer.

The closing scene shows Eddie having rescued the missing person, and an assortment of other women, and in the process having redeemed himself from the reputation he earned within the precinct of being a failure as an officer.

”Blood Diamond” is a 2006 action/adventure film co-produced and directed by Edward Zwick, director of Glory and The Last Samurai, and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou. The title refers to blood diamonds, which are diamonds mined in African war zones and sold to finance the conflicts and profit the warlords and the diamond companies across the world. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Actor (DiCaprio) and Best Supporting Actor (Hounsou).

Plot :

Set during Sierra Leone Civil War in 1996-1999, the film shows a country torn apart by the struggle between government soldiers and rebel forces.[1] The film portrays many of the atrocities of that war, including the rebels’ amputation of people’s hands to discourage them from voting in upcoming elections.

The film begins with the capture of Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou), a Mende fisherman, by the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) rebels when they invade the small Sierra Leonian village of Shenge. Separated from his family, Solomon is enslaved to work in the diamond fields under the command of a Warlord called Captain Poison (David Harewood) while his son Dia is conscripted into the rebel forces, the brainwashing eventually turning him into a hardened killer. The RUF use the diamonds to fund their war effort, often trading them directly for arms. While working in the RUF diamond fields as a forced laborer, Solomon finds a large, pink diamond inside a big, broken pipe in the diamond fields. Claiming that he must go to the toilet, Solomon hides the diamond between his toes to try and sneak it away to bury it. However, moments before government troops launch an attack, Captain Poison sees Solomon hiding the diamond. Captain Poison is injured in an attack by government forces before he can get the stone, and both he and Solomon are taken to prison in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone.

Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio), a white Rhodesian mercenary, trades arms for diamonds with an RUF commander. He is imprisoned after being caught smuggling the diamonds into neighboring Liberia, and the diamonds are confiscated. He had been transporting the diamonds to an Afrikaner mercenary named Colonel Coetzee (Arnold Vosloo), who is in turn employed by South African diamond company executive Van de Kaap (Marius Weyers) and his deputy Simmons (Michael Sheen). Coetzee is Archer’s former commander in 32 Battalion, the most decorated unit of the South African Border War, made up of Angolan and Rhodesian soldiers and white South African officers. Archer is desperate for a way to repay Colonel Coetzee for the diamonds taken from him when he was arrested and thrown in jail, in the same prison as the fisherman. While in prison, he overhears Captain Poison ranting to Solomon about the discovery of the large diamond and decides to hunt down the stone. He arranges for Solomon’s release from prison and offers to help him find his family in exchange for the diamond.

Archer and Solomon find their way to Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an American journalist, who helps Solomon track down his family. Bowen soon learns that Archer is using Solomon to find his diamond and will eventually steal it for himself, to leave Africa forever. Bowen, a humanitarian, refuses to help Archer unless he can tell her about the diamond market to stop the flow of blood diamonds out of Africa, cutting off funding for Civil War and ending a mass revolution. Archer gives Bowen the information that she wants and gets access to use the press convoy to travel to Kono to find the diamond. The RUF then launches a massive assault on Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, and crushes the government forces present, forcing Danny and Solomon to steal away from the city at night.

After their escape, Danny and Solomon find their way to Maddy’s camp and board the convoy. The convoy is attacked and the remaining news teams are killed while Archer, Solomon and Bowen escape and find their way to the South African mercenary force under Colonel Coetzee. There they learn of the attack force preparing to retake Sierra Leone—a reference to the actual 1995 hiring of South African security firm Executive Outcomes by the provisional government of Sierra Leone. The two men leave the camp on foot (after stealing many provisions for their journey), while Bowen boards a plane carrying foreigners out of the conflict zone. While treking through the jungle to try and get away from Coetzee’s forces, Solomon believes he sees his son, Dia, on the back of a RUF transport truck. He almost gets himself and Danny killed when he calls out to get Dia’s attention. They get away and eventually the men reach the mining camp in a river valley, still under RUF control, where Solomon discovered and buried the large diamond. Here, Solomon is painfully reunited with his son Dia, who refuses to acknowledge him because he has been brainwashed by the rebels. Solomon is also reunited with Captain Poison, who orders him to find the diamond, but the South African mercenary force, also after the diamond, dispatches the RUF rebels in a massive air strike via an Mi-24 Gunship, which kills many of the RUF rebels and some of the miners. Amidst the chaos, Solomon kills Poison with a shovel. Through a deal with Archer, Colonel Coetzee forces Solomon to retrieve the stone. In a desperate attempt to save both their lives, Archer attacks Coetzee and the other two soldiers after realizing that they would have killed him, Solomon, and Dia upon locating the diamond. While Solomon knocks the Colonel’s gun out of his hand, Archer manages to kill both soldiers and then Coetzee. As Archer overturns a body to take equipment he realizes he has been shot in the side of his chest, but keeps this to himself. At this point Dia holds Archer and Solomon at gunpoint with a pistol, but, after an emotional talk, Solomon manages to convince him of his own retained innocence and Dia agrees to return home with him.

Having arranged in advance for a plane to pick him up, Danny radios to the pilot, Nabil (Jimi Mistry), who demands that he dump Solomon and Dia. Slowly and painfully the group makes its way from the valley towards an airstrip atop a nearby ridge. Archer collapses, the bullet having punctured his lung and leaving him unable to breathe well as he continues to lose blood. Unable to climb, Solomon carries him a little ways before Archer asks Solomon to put him down. Knowing that he is dying, he tells him to take Dia home and gives them back the diamond he had demanded earlier. Archer holds off the mercenaries chasing them with his rifle while Solomon and Dia flee, and then makes a final phone call to Bowen, asking her to help Solomon as a last favor before looking out over the beautiful landscape of Africa once more and dying peacefully.

Solomon travels to London and, with the help of Bowen, he trades the diamond to Simmons for £2,000,000 and the reunification of his family, making the exchange as Solomon’s wife and children arrive via a Lear Jet at a London airport. Bowen, who secretly photographs the deal, later publishes a magazine piece exposing the trade in “conflict” or “blood” diamonds. The film ends with Solomon smiling at the photograph Maddy took of Archer earlier, now published in her magazine along with the complete story of their journey, before addressing a conference on blood diamonds in Kimberley, South Africa, describing his experiences. This refers to an actual meeting that took place in Kimberley in 2000 and led to the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, which seeks to certify the origin of diamonds in order to curb the trade in conflict diamonds.

The Beach is a 2000 drama film by the Trainspotting production team consisting of John Hodge, producer Andrew Macdonald and director Danny Boyle based on The Beach, a 1996 novel by Alex Garland. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tilda Swinton, Robert Carlyle, Virginie Ledoyen and Guillaume Canet.

Plot :

Richard (Leonardo DiCaprio), a young American backpacking in Thailand, has come to Southeast Asia with the intention of experiencing something radically different from his familiar life. He hears of an island paradise commonly held to be urban legend. According to rumor the island is a secret community of travelers who have left behind their former lives. Richard initially dismisses the island’s existence, but later meets Daffy (Robert Carlyle), who identifies himself as a former inhabitant and gives Richard a map. Shortly afterward, Daffy commits suicide.

Richard meets Françoise (Virginie Ledoyen) and her boyfriend, Étienne (Guillaume Canet), and convinces them to accompany him to the island. They travel from Bangkok to the shores of Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand, where Richard befriends a pair of American surfers who mention the legend. He does not admit his knowledge but copies his map and slides it under their door.

To reach the island, Richard, Françoise and Étienne must hop between several adjacent islands. When they first arrive on the island, they come across an enormous marijuana plantation guarded by local men armed with AK-47 assault rifles. They manage to evade detection and find the community of travelers. They are seen by Keaty (Paterson Joseph), who takes them to the beach community. They are interrogated by the island’s leader Sal (Tilda Swinton) regarding their knowledge of the island but are eventually accepted into the community.

One night while Richard and Françoise are walking down the beach, she tells him that she is falling in love with him. They swim out into the ocean to look at a swarm of bioluminescent plankton, where Françoise kisses Richard and the two proceed to have passionate sex on the beach. They decide not to tell anyone about their romance, but soon everyone on the island finds out, including Étienne. Although devastated, Étienne says he will not stand in their way if Françoise is happier with Richard.

At first the island and its community seem to live up to their reputation. Richard swims out into the ocean to catch fish with a harpoon and is attacked by a young mako shark, but he stabs it to death with a knife — which gains him much admiration. Events take a turn for the worse when Richard is chosen to accompany Sal to the mainland to acquire supplies, where the two American surfers see Richard. Sal overhears their conversation about the copy of the map and confronts Richard, who admits his guilt. In exchange for Sal’s silence and Richard’s return to the island, the two engage in a sexual encounter.

When they return to the island, everything returns to normal, until the Swedes are attacked by a large shark. Sten dies and Christo is severely injured. The only options for Christo are to go to the mainland to get medical help or stay on the island and take his chances, but Sal refuses to allow a doctor to come to the island. Christo chooses to stay, not wanting to go near the water after his encounter with the shark. Christo’s condition worsens and the community becomes annoyed with it, so they take him out into the middle of the jungle to die. All of them seem fine with this decision except for Étienne, who stays with him. Later, Sal observes that the American surfer friends of Richard are on the neighboring island and charges Richard with the task of watching them so he can obtain the map or destroy it. While he’s waiting for the surfers to arrive, Françoise shows up, furious and heartbroken, saying that Sal has told everybody about her and Richard’s sexual encounter. Richard cannot cope with his task and retreats into the forest, where he becomes temporarily insane, believing that he is communing with the long-dead Daffy. He evades the other islanders and sets lethal traps in an attempt to keep them at bay, at times hallucinating that he is a character in a video game.

Meanwhile, the surfers reach the island but are discovered and killed by the marijuana farmers. Richard returns to the community to convince Étienne and Françoise to leave the island, believing that all their lives are now in danger. Étienne refuses, not wanting to leave Christo, whose leg has become gangrenous. Richard ends up smothering him when the other two leave the tent. The farmers approach Sal, with whom they had an agreement; the travelers may continue to live on the island so long as it remains a secret. The head farmer gives Sal a pistol with which to shoot Richard. Sal’s partner, Bugs, pins Richard against the main support of the structure and Sal pulls the trigger, but the chamber is empty. Nevertheless, when the rest of the community sees the lengths that Sal is willing to go to for the sake of the community, they leave the island. Sal, however, stays behind.

The film ends with Richard returning to his former lifestyle of travel. While stopping by an internet cafe to check his e-mail, he receives from Françoise a photograph of the beach community, with an animated handwritten inscription over the image: ‘Parallel Universe. Love, Françoise’.

Bleach: Fade to Black, I Call Your Name (BLEACH Fade to Black 君の名を呼ぶ, Burīchi Fade to Black Kimi no Na o Yobu?) is the third animated film adaptation of the anime and manga series Bleach. Directed by Noriyuki Abe, the film was released December 13, 2008. The film’s theme music was “Koyoi, Tsuki wa Miezu Tomo”, performed by Porno Graffiti and its screenplay was written by Natsuko Takahashi, who is a screenwriter for the anime series. The DVD was released on September 30, 2009, with additional footage of Ichigo, Rukia and Kon leaving for the Real World

Plot :

The movie opens with Mayuri Kurotsuchi, in his laboratory, being attacked by a mysterious scythe wielder, somehow causing him to lose his memories as a Soul Reaper. After his lieutenant, Nemu Kurotsuchi, arrives to find out what the disturbance is, he begins to panic, having no memory of her. In his state of confusion, he inadvertently destroys a control panel, triggering a massive explosion of reiatsu that covers all of Seireitei in a milky-white cocoon-like substance that spawns reiatsu snakes. Kenpachi Zaraki hurries only to witness the disaster and becomes imprisoned in the reiatsu. The explosion destroys Seireitei and induces amnesia in all the Soul Reapers residing there.

Rukia Kuchiki was later attacked by the same scythe wielder. As it hurtles towards her, she feels something inside her vanish: her heart and memories have been stolen. While Ichigo Kurosaki is asleep, he senses danger and wakes up. For a moment Ichigo then forgot about Rukia but Kon helps by revealing another coded letter from Rukia, similar to the one she left before leaving to be executed in Soul Society. Ichigo and Kon visits Kisuke Urahara, only to discover that he too has completely forgotten Rukia. After being informed by Kisuke about the incident in Seireitei, Ichigo suspects a connection and decides to go to Soul Society.

In Soul Society, Rukia finds herself in a small cabin in the 78th district of Rukongai, Inuzuri, where she (along with Renji Abarai) was brought up in her childhood. She then finds two “siblings” beside her, calling her name and welcoming her with joy. When Rukia asks for their names, they reply by saying that she had promised to give them names a long time ago. Both ask for her to give them their names. Rukia tries to remember and does recall having taken care of the siblings in the same cabin, but cannot remember their names. Having forgotten her time and status as a Soul Reaper, she then questions what she had been doing, at which the siblings answer that she had been sleeping for a very long time.

In Seireitei, Ichigo is confronted by a group of Soul Reapers including Shūhei Hisagi, Renji, and Sajin Komamura, who proceed to attack him after seeing him accidentally use his hollow mask. When Ichigo confronts Renji about using his Bankai, Renji has no recollection of ever learning it. When intruding the Kuchiki mansion, Ichigo finds Byakuya Kuchiki staring at the picture of his late wife, Hisana Kuchiki; Byakuya informs Ichigo that Hisana was raised in Inuzuri. Thanking him, Ichigo hurries to Inuzuri, detects Rukia via smell, and finds her at the roof of the cabin looking over at her friends’ graves.

Upon seeing Ichigo, Rukia questions his identity, claiming not to know him. A shocked Ichigo replies, “It’s me, Ichigo! Don’t tell me you don’t remember!” Rukia attempts to, but just when her memories would start to return, a severe headache stops her from remembering, and she is taken away by the siblings. In the cabin afterwards, she asks her “sister” if she had been awake, and not sleeping as the siblings claimed, to which they answered that they did not know. Rukia collapses once again right before she remembers something and holds her head, panting in agony, and is taken away by the siblings again. Meanwhile, Renji is approached by Zabimaru, who questions on why he didn’t use Bankai, and Renji tries to remember why he would know it.

Ichigo is seen elsewhere, apparently upset. Kon inquires whether he is sad that Rukia has forgotten him, earning an irritated response in a form of a strike. He points out that Ichigo is strongly connected to Rukia, simply by being the only Soul Reaper who still remembers her. He leaves, and Ichigo, still thinking, pulls out Rukia’s letter. He then has a flashback in which Rukia is writing a letter, which she refuses to let him see, claiming it was a “surprise for later.”

Just as Ichigo and Kon prepare to set off, Tōshirō Hitsugaya, Ikkaku Madarame and Yumichika Ayasegawa attack him. Hitsugaya is about to deal the final blow when Renji intervenes, arguing that his soul feels that Ichigo is not the enemy. However, upon hearing Ichigo call him Renji(out of habit), he is quickly angered and warns him not to call him by his first name, though in vain. Several Captains enter the fight to battle Ichigo and Renji, but are interrupted by Urahara and Yoruichi Shihōin, who urge Ichigo and Renji to leave to save Rukia while they hold the Captains off.

To find Rukia, they must use a form of kidō which relies on the bond between Ichigo and Rukia. At first Renji is doubtful, but Ichigo is determined to see it succeed. When the technique is activated, a transparent red thread is shown, which connects Ichigo and Rukia, and through it Ichigo is able to locate her.

Talking to Yamamoto and the other Captains, Urahara reveals that during his time as a Soul Reaper Captain he had experimented on a parasitic Hollow with the ability to erase memories through a scythe-like appendage on its tail, and hypothesizes that the two rogue spirits are being influenced by the Hollow, explaining that, since the memories of each person in Soul Society are linked, the loss of Rukia’s memories as a Soul Reaper induces the collective amnesia experienced after their attack.

Rukia wakes up to find herself in Mayuri’s laboratory with the twin siblings working on something. They claim that they plan to destroy all those who try to take Rukia from them and ask her why she wants to protect the Soul Reapers. Their conversation is interrupted by the arriving Renji and Ichigo on Hihiō Zabimaru through a wall. Rukia finally remembers Renji, and Ichigo urges her to remember more, stating that the Rukia he knows would never lose herself in such a way.

The siblings, disturbed, try to convince Rukia to leave. Rukia, however, instead asks him to repeat his name, at which her memories return and she chokes out the name Ichigo. The sister declares that she will never forgive Ichigo for trying to steal Rukia. She proceeds to wish that she, her brother, and Rukia would become one, and the two merge with her, resulting in a twisted form of Rukia, referred to as “Dark Rukia” in the trailers. Renji deals with any other enemies for Ichigo, leaving him to do whatever necessary for “that woman.”

Ichigo is forced to fight Dark Rukia, evading her attacks instead of fighting back. He asks her to remember him, earning a reply that Dark Rukia will erase her memories of him and destroy their bond. Ichigo, however, retorts that as long as he remembers her, their bond can never be broken. Dark Rukia is almost at the point of decapitating Ichigo when she is interrupted by Byakuya’s kidō. Byakuya and Renji inform Ichigo that Rukia is turning into a Hollow and must be destroyed.

Ichigo refuses and emphasizes his bond with Rukia, to which Byakuya replies that he may do as he wishes; Byakuya steps out and Dark Rukia breaks the kido. Dark Rukia immediately attacks Ichigo again, but Ichigo states that it is his turn to give her power this time, much as she had done on their first day of meeting. He stabs her with Zangetsu and gives her his power. With this, the Hollow is expelled from her body and Rukia transforms back to a Soul Reaper, collapsing into his waiting arms. He hugs her with one arm, (his other hand holding Zangetsu) protecting her from the explosion caused by the destruction of the machine in Mayuri’s lab, as all the other Soul Reapers apparently regain their lost memories.

When Rukia finally comes back to her senses, Ichigo greets her with his signature “Yo”, and then she turns to the injured siblings after Ichigo says so. It is revealed that they were killed by the memory-erasing Hollow, which had escaped Urahara and was possessing a Soul Reaper, and fused with it as they died, reappearing in Hueco Mundo. Because of the Hollow, the memory of the siblings was wiped from Rukia. The siblings complain that they have no one else besides Rukia. Rukia consoles them, telling them that they have each other, and she remembered that she named them ‘Homura’ and ‘Shizuku’. The siblings lose consciousness and die after saying “Goodbye, Rukia”, leaving a sad Rukia crying out to the heavens.

In the final scene, Rukia is seen on top of a hill reading a letter given to her by the twins. Ichigo enters, and is questioned if he is going home, to which he answers yes. Rukia tells him that he saved her, and Ichigo replies that she saved him first; he suggests that they were connected even before they met and that their bond was based on that connection as well as their memories. He bids her farewell, addressing her as “Soul Reaper,” to which she replies with the exact words from their first encounter: “It’s not ‘Soul Reaper’. It’s Rukia Kuchiki.”
